
Valluvar
Kottam is an important monument in the metro
city of Chennai in Tamilnadu. This monument
is a memorial built for the famous Tamil
saint poet Thiruvalluvar. The significance
of the temple is that it has been built
as a replica of the temple chariot of Thiruvavur.
The main attraction is the life size statue
of the great saint poet. The Valluvar Kottam
auditorium has a massive capacity of about
4000 people. Perhaps the most significant
features of the monument is that 133 chapters
of the great literary work Thirukkural has
been depicted on the bas relief on the front
corridors.
