
The
Pongal Festival of Tamilnadu is celebrated
on the fourteenth of January every year.
It is during this time that the sun gradually
starts moving to the northern hemisphere.
During this season four festivals namely
Bogi, Pongal, Maatuppongal and Thiruvalluvar
Day is celebrated marking a period of celebration
and rest from work. Special Pujas are carried
out during this time. Colorful kolams are
drawn in front of the houses. It is a period
of celebration of Tamilians and a lot of
fair and exhibitions take place during this
time. It is also an event where new movies
release. Pongal marks the end of traditional
harvest festival.
