
Kumbeshwara
Temple is one of the most famous temples
of South India, which is located in the
town of Kumbakonam in Tamilnadu. The deity
here is Siva also called Adi Kumbeshwara
who is supposed to have made a Sivalinga
for himself out of the broken pot of Amritham
or Nectar and entered into it. Thus the
name Adi Kumbeshwara. The Kumbeswara temple
is considered a very holy place. The typical
characteristic of this majestic temple is
the huge Gopuram which has intricate carvings.
Other deities like Lord Vinayaka and Lord
Subramanian with six heads are also worshipped
here.
