
The
Kaarthigai Deepam festival is celebrated
in Tamilnadu and other parts of South India
in the Tamil month of Kaarthigai. It is
also a festival of lights and considered
as an extension of Deepavali by many. On
this day people clean up their houses and
draw colorful Kolams on the doorway. A series
of lamps are lit. The festival is celebrated
for three days and lams are lit on the doors,
windows and so on. The streets, wall s are
all lot and it is a magnificent view. Special
pujas are performed for Lord Muruga as it
is believed that it is on this day that
the six forms of Lord Muruga were united
by Parvati and thus he had six faces.
