
The
Kalpathy temple is in Kerala about 3kms
from Palakkad. Palakkad can be easily accessed
by road. It is one of the major railway
junctions and is connected by various important
cities. The Vishwantaha Swamy is enshrined
in the Kalpathy temple. It is considered
to be one of the oldest Siva temples. The
temple is most famous for the annual ratholsavam
or chariot festival. This festival at the
Kalpathy temple lasts for seven days. The
festival has three magnificent decorated
chariots, decorated with flowers and flags.
Devotees throng the place to get a chance
to pull the chariot which is considered
to be an honor.
