Kalpathy temple

The Kalpathy temple is in Kerala about 3kms from Palakkad. Palakkad can be easily accessed by road. It is one of the major railway junctions and is connected by various important cities. The Vishwantaha Swamy is enshrined in the Kalpathy temple. It is considered to be one of the oldest Siva temples. The temple is most famous for the annual ratholsavam or chariot festival. This festival at the Kalpathy temple lasts for seven days. The festival has three magnificent decorated chariots, decorated with flowers and flags. Devotees throng the place to get a chance to pull the chariot which is considered to be an honor.
