
Guruvayoor
temple can be counted as one of the most
famous temples of South India. The youthful
form of Krishna is the deity here and a
lot of traditions and customs are followed
in the temple. It is believed that Guru
– the preceptor of Gods and Vaayu
the wind God established the temple here.
The temple faces east. Guruvayoor is easily
accessible from Trichur by rail and road.
Millions of people throng the Guruvayoor
temple annually and one can often witness
the queue system. The temple is built in
such a way that the sanctum can be viewed
from the entrance. The malayali New Year’s
Day called Vishu is celebrated with a lot
of pomp and sanctity here and special Poojas
takes place then.
